Oddly enough I'm a Trexler desc. on my father's side and a (Barney) Troxler desc. on my mother's -- and I've seen no credible link between the two.But then I haven't seen much about Barney that was in any sense credible. One still hopes. The names have different etymology in dialect forms of high German, not that I know much about it.Drechsler is "turner"
(lathe operator), in standard German.I forget what trachsler means, but it means something (in Swiss or Bavarian dialect, as I dimly recall). It's from a verb, trachseln or drachseln, non-standard German.
