I may have a connection to you. Was Margaret's maiden name possibly Hollison? In the 1850 census she, James and Samuel are living in the household of Samuel Hollison in Jenner Twp, Somerset County. I believe my ancestor may have been the illegitimate son of Margaret and Jeremiah Irvin. Jeremiah Jr. (the son) was also living in that house. When Jeremiah Jr. joined the Union Army during the Civil War, he enlisted under "Jeremiah McDade." McDade is a variation of McDevitt. Jeremiah served in Co. D, 54th PA Vol as well. Does this ring a bell at all for you?
