John Riley TROUT (1831-1878), died Phelps County, MO

I am researching John Riley TROUT who homesteaded on Six Crossings Hollow, Phelps, MO, and was buried in the Trout Cemetery on his farm there 25 Nov 1878.

Internet postings indicate that John Riley TROUT was born 15 Oct 1831 in Henry County, TN, but provide no sources.

Does anyone know of an obituary, family Bible, family letters, or similar original sources for the reported birth and county/state of origin information? The date looks very reliable (based on census data), and also appears on his gravestone, but the reported county (Henry County, TN) does not match up with his most likely parents (still to be determined).
