Troup/Troop from Aberdeen, Scotland
I have just found that in Aberdeen there were Gordon's, Troup's and Angus's. These are the three surnames that according to family lore came together about 1750 thereabout and then came to County Down,Ireland. I have been told that Troop surnamed people are part of the Clan Gordon. I have also read that the word Manor has significance with the name Troop. My Troop information is very limited. The names were Lord and Lady Troop and John Troop, Sarah Troop, Robert Troop, Mathew Troop and Alexander Troop. They were all born abt. 1758 to 1768. Sarah or "Sally" married John/Nathaniel Angus about 1778 at Gretna Green, Scotland. They then removed to County Down. Perhaps Elizabeth, who made mention of the Manor association can reply?
