I've been reading you & Jim's discussions from 2003.No wonder I'm confused!
My THOMAS TROTT b/abt 1746d. 1816 (Probate record)Kingston Parish, King's Co., NB.1784 landgrant Sunbury Co., NB. ch: Susanna b/abt 1783, Mary b. 1790, John b. 1787 NB.John mar. DEBORAH PARKER d/o Titus & Mary. ch: Joseph Hewlett, Thomas 1817, MaryAnn 1823, SOPHIA ROMINE 1824, William 1828, John Craig 1829, Clarissa Deborah 1830, Elizabeth Jane 1836, George Samuel 1839 & perhaps Rebecca chr. 1846, all born Kingston, Greenwich & Westfield Parishes, King's Co. (these parishes were just forming from 1).
Sophia Trott d. 1829 @ 80 yrs. (b. 1749) Greenwich & Westfield Anglican Records.
I did find a marriage of Thomas Trott & SOPHIA ROMER 1779 in the Staten Island, NY Brethren or Moravian Church.I'm told by the Trott One-Name Study Group that they are not aware of any Trott's in NY in that era.
There's been some discussion as to whether Thomas was brother to John & Samuel, the Penobscot Loyalists who ended up in Charlotte Co. NB.Most say no.
But I found the "Ebenezer Thorndike Petition of 1762" where Thomas, Samuel & 2 John Trotts state they were "soldiers at Fort Pownall" (Penobscot River). This fort was built 1759 & the 1st commander was Jedediah Preble until 1763.Now Jed is another of my lines, but not connected to Trotts. But, he lived in York, ME & d. Falmouth, ME. He & w/Avis were part of the Penobscot Loyalists and rec'd land in Charlotte Co., as did John & Samuel Trott, one of which had a w/Susanna.Thomas was not on the 1764 Resolve of the Thorndike Petition.
The Canadian Gen. Index says Thomas Trott arrived summer or fall of 1783.
Do you know anything of this Thomas?
a bought in 1758 greatfully accepted.Joan, Maine
