It seems to be pretty generally agreed among Nantucket Trotts that the immigrant ancestor was Simon of Cape Porpoise, probably through his son John (although there is much confusion -- several early genealogists seem to treat John alternatively as Simon or as Simon's grandson!).I think there is a good chance Simon was the Simon Trott shown as an indentured servant in the Plymouth colony.(see online data regarding his indenture.)If you have data establishing that the Windham Trotts were directly from the Nantucket branch, I would love to know about it.The only Trott crew I show in Windham is that of Capt Thomas, who m. Sarah Knapp 1759.He seems to have been born in Falmouth (1731) and may be the Thomas Trott shown with a landgrant in Penobscot (see the Thorndike Petition, also online). But he is not shown in later lists of original landowners there. He seems to have gone directly from Falmouth to Windham.Do you show anything different?
Checking again, I also show a Mary Trott born in Windham/She was probably Capt. Thomas's dau., but may have been the dau. of Benjamin (m. Thankful Brackett, acquired Peaks Island land from her father, 1762).
I'm assuming Gertrude, to whom you refer, is the dau. of Frank Lester (son of John Thomas and Jane Trefethern (Sterling) who m. Lillian Ames.I show Gertrude m. 1917 Forest Wheeler Johnson. Is that right?
It is likely we share very early ancestors -- poss. Simon of Cape Porpoise and John of Nantucket.I'd sure like to hear about the Nantucket - New Marblehead (Windham) connection.
Thanks,Jim
