This is a fascinating post. We have been researching Josiah's line for many years, but have always had some gaps with Ephraim C.

Do you have a death notice for him ? You listed 28 Aug 1879 as deathdate. Was that in Wisconsin?

All of the data you give on the children of his first marriage (Sally Mahar) is confirmed by the Perry, ME ViRs, Vol I, pp. 78 and 184 , with the following exceptions:

--the ViRs do not include the death data you give for John Hibbard, Sarah Ann (your Sara Louisa),Aaron Noel, and Laura Rebecca.

--the ViRs disagree with you on Laura Dunn (your Lara Duwn): they show here death date as 1 Mar 1850.

-- the ViRs disagree with you on Laura Rebecca. They show her birth date 22 Mar 1850.

Sally Mahar (Trott)'s death date is also confirmed there.

But there is no further data in the Perry records in regard to the second marriage or the additional children -- obviously if they went to Wisconsin the records would be there.

Can you tell me where those records might be accessed?

I am a little suspicious about Zilpha, because there are several Zilpha Trott's referred to with various connections. One a daughter of the mysterious Joseph Trott of Orland, ME is in some places said to be the one who died in Wisconsin in 1947.

Was your husband's grandmother from Maine? What was her connection?

Thanks, this is some very interesting data -- I hope we can get it documented!

Happy hunting, Jim.
