Harry Beatty: You were kind enough to respond to my email. I printed your response, but have lost your email address. My husband and I visited the Balsam Lake, WI cemetery on July 4--last week--and observed the grave of James Trott who passed away in 1902. According to a newspaper--the Polk County Ledger, of January 4, 1917, which contains Susan Toby Trott's obituary, she was buried next to him in 1917. The large monument only gave James' name, but possibly there were the small stones that have become embedded in the sod. We saw many that were barely visible. Also, saw the grave of Benjamin Toby. We need to return and record the information. My cousin sent you a copy of the legend of Great Grandmother Toby. I am in the process of assembling a record of the newspaper clippings found in my aunt's home.
Please email me again so I can obtain an address if you are interested in a copy of the obituary of Susan Toby Trott.
