Davenport Rites Saturday
Mrs. Trythena [Tryphena] Davenport, 92, 106 East Atchison street, widow of D. B. Davenport,
died at 12:40 a.m. today at the Atchison hospital.She entered the hospital Nov. 5 after suffering
a fall at her home.Until her injury she was active and in good health.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Sawin & Dyer chapel.The Rev. Wylie
Latham, minister of the First Methodist church, will officiate.Burial will be in Mt. Vernon
cemetery.
Mrs. Davenport was born Nov. 4, 1872 in Indiana, a daughter of Dan and Sarah Trombley.As a
small child she came to Kansas in a covered wagon with her parents, who homesteaded in the
vicinity of Delphos.
At the age of 20 Mrs. Davenport came to Atchison and was married here two years later to
Daniel Boone Davenport, an Atchison county farmer.For 60 years they lived on a farm south of
the former Atchison county home, southwest of the city.The farm is now the home of their son,
Barry Davenport.
D. B. Davenport died in 1932.Mrs. Davenport moved to Atchison six years ago.
She was a member of the Methodist church.
Besides her son she leaves five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
