I just saw your great grandfather and great grandmother's grave today!I have started digging in to my family history as of this weekend.I am researching all information regarding Kinney's and Trogdon's from Randolph County. The Kinney's that I am directly related to were George Kinney and Sara Jane Hammer Kinney.
They are my great grandparents on my father's side of the family. They are buried in the same cemetery as the folks you are looking for at Franklinville Methodist Church Cemetery. It isn't hard to find.As soon as you pull in the drive the Trogdon's you are looking for are buried right in front. My great grandparents are about two rows behind them.
I have run into a brick wall with my Grandpa Trogdon. His name was Carl Dewitt Trogdon. He had a sister named Bertha Trogdon Ragsdale.Carl is buried in a cemetery somewhere in Forsythe County and died 10/30/1978.I can't find any information about his parents or whether there were other sisters and brothers.I think his Dad's name was John and I thought my great grandmother's name was Anne, but i am not sure of that.I found a grave at Brower's Chapel United Meth Ch. for John M and Mary K Kemp Trogdon and I think they be the ones' I am kin to because my grandmother and three of her sons are buried there as well as Bertha Trogdon Ragsdale.
Also there were rumors in my family that my Dad, Russell Garland Trogdon, had an ongoing affair with some woman in VA (before I was ever born) that produced a son. There isn't a tactful way to approach my mother about this because she gets angry and throws me out of the house, but I want to know if this is true. You know it is nice to know about your kinfolk even if the story isn't pleasant because you may need a kidney or something someday and that may be your only hope.I know for a fact that my Dad had an affair with a Mary Ann Brasowski(unsure of spelling) when he was working in Onslow county, NC and it wouldn't surprise me if there weren't some more offspring produced there.
