My Troester family arrived in 1848 through New Orleans to St Louis. Frederick and Catherine came from Saxe-Coburg-Gothe with all their surviving children. The oldest was Albert who was married. The family were blacksmiths and set up in Illinois east of St Louis. My greatgrandfather Ben or Barnhardt and his brother Lou were born in the US. They had several older brothers and sisters who settled around Washington and Pinkneyville Illinois. Four of Fred and Catherine's son's moved to Kansas. Albert and brother Frederick stayed. Ben and Lou moved back to Southern Illinois. Lou then moved on to Southwestern Missouri. Anyone who thinks they might be related to this Troester family is welcome to contact me.
