There were at least 2 and possibly three Archibald Tritts. 1-Archibald, Sr. who had a daughter Elizabeth Tritt(38 in the 1850 census) who married Enos Plott.2-Another Archibald Tritt who lived with Elizabeth and husband at the 1850 census in Haywood Co. N.C.He was over 20 at that time. I believe this is the Archibald who married Margaret Wike and lived in Haywood Co.in 1870 Census listed as 40 years old. He may have been a son of Elizabeth before her marriage to Enos Plott or he may have been her younger brother -therefore a son of Archibald,Sr. also.
I believe that Archibald, Sr. was the father of Lafayette Tritt also. His dau. Margaret Catherine Tritt lived with Elizabeth Tritt Plott in the 1870 census, She was a daughter of Lafayette and listed as a Niece to Elizabeth. Therefore Elizabeth and Lafayette were brother and sister both children of Archibald,Sr.
Then there was 3- Archibald C. Tritt who was in Muscogee Co. Ga.was he one of the above Archibald's or another separate person?///////This is very much a mystery. This archibald married Frances Faulkenbury in 1845 in Muscogee Co. Ga. Supposedly he died and possibly she also by 1852. (Court records there). Her two brothers Robert and John Faulkenbury petitioned the courts for Custody of "the two under 14 years of age sons of Archibald and Frances Tritt. This court record was in the Court minutes 1852-1864 Book B on Feb, 1863.There was also some other court records in Muscogee Co.Ga. mentioning Archibald Tritt on some note with someone in Haywood Co. N.C. So this one was from Haywood also. Which one was he?????The Archibald who married margaret Wike was a lot older than Margaret. He was listed as 40 and she 29 in the 1860 Census. Family stated she was even younger born June 1, 1841. I sure would appreciate anyone who knows the correct info about these Archibalds to post the info. ( Did the one in Muscogee not die but just leave?
