My grandmother is Jeannette Trimmier, daughter of John Edward Trimmier who was the son of Thomas Jefferson Trimmier and grandson of Thomas Stribling Trimmier, who built the oldest house still standing today in Bell County, Texas, near Owl Creek.
I think I might have corresponded w/ you before. Your information posted here on the Trimmiers is very good and greatly appreciated.
I have always heard that the Trimmier name is French in origin, which I believe it is.
That doesn't necessarily mean that our Trimmiers came straight from France to Virginia.
More likely they migrated to England and remained there for a few generations before sailing over. I have always heard from my grandmother that "the name is all that is French".
The switch in the spelling of the name is interesting. Uniquely, changing the spelling of the name from Trimyear to Trimmier made the name less phonetically correct.
Also, what evidence is there on the parents of Obadiah (who married Lucy Strribling) being William Trimyear and Lucy Watson?
questions comments welcome
