There was a dedication service for a marker for Obadiah Trimmier, the Revolutionary War Soldier at the Poole family Cemetery in the area of Westminster, SC, on October 25, 1987.I am not a descendant of the Trimmiers, but I am a descendant of the Poole's.In any event, a flyer was handed out at the event, with the following information on it.Hope this helps someone!
Obediah TRIMMIER- bors in Louisa County, Virginia in 1759.He was the son of Obadiah TRIMMIER and Lucy WATSON who had migrated to America from France.Obediah lost his parents when he was age 12.At an early age, he joined the revolutionary armed forces. He was commissioned an officer in 1781 and fought in battles in Virginia and South Carolina, including the Battle of Cowpens. In 1786, he performed marriages in the Spartanburg district as a Justice of the Peace. After moving to the Pickens district, he served in the legislature from Pickens district. He, along with many other revolutionary war veterans, settled in the Pickens county area.In 1786 he married Lucy STRIBLING and they reared 12 known children.Obadiah died 22 Jan 1829 and was buried in the Toxaway Creek Baptist Church cemetery, now called the Poole Cementery.Obadiah's estate was sold at public auction 13 Oct 1832 to his son-in-law, David SLOAN, for $850.00.By 1839, David was dead and had not paid the amount he owed.Thomas STRIBLING agreed to pay one-half of the amount to obtain title to the land where TRIMMIER lived and died.On 22 March 1859, Thomas M.
