I was overjoyed when a Rose researcher that I have been working with sent me some wills in which Christopher Trim Jr's grandson is named and his name was Valentine Rock, the
son of Christopher's daughter. I had been seeking a connection between Valentine Trim and our Christopher, and it was common at that time in English naming patters to name a child after a grandfather. Seeing the first name Valentine convinced me that our Christopher Trim Sr was his the famous sea captain's son. I have also corresponded with a man in Austin who is descended from one of Valentine Trim's brothers, Matthew Trim. The three brothers, Matthew, Valentine and Lafayette, were all operating ships between England and the Colonies. It stands to reason that some of Valentine's children or grandchildren would go to Block Island since it was a
colony of mariners. My friend in Austin has the complete line of Matthew, and I got lot of information on Benjamin, your ancestor, from a librarian in New Jersey. I have copied it and have it on paper upstairs, but I can't get to my computer right now so I am using my husband's and it does not have all of my information on it.

Please write back. There are just a few of us researching this line. I am still searching for the parents of my Mary Rose, wife of Godfrey Trim. They moved to Islesboro, Maine along with other members of the family.
