Trickey Pond, Naples, Cumberland Co, ME

I found an 1871 map with Trickey Pond shown on it south of Naples, Me. Trickey Pond is south of what is now US 302 on the weest side of ME 114. The Pond is north of Lake Sebago the western shore of which is on the same highway.

I spent six summers on Trickey Pond many, many years ago workiong at a girls' camp and it holds fond memories for me. Given the spelling of Trickey Pond, I suspect it was named for a Trickey family (rather than Tricky Pond implying "tricky" winds for sailing -- and the winds could be tricky on the Pond!).

Perhaps it was named for an early settler on the Pond. There are "houses" shown on the map with names but none appear to be Trickey. I'd also be interested in learning when the POnd was named. Given the early settlement of that part of Maine, I suspect it was named in the 18th century.

Does anyone have any information or suppositions on this? Has anyone looked at the Cumberland County, ME deeds? Thanks for your help. There are about 300 other people (those are only the ones who attended or worked at this camp and who have been found). We're thinking about publishing a history of the camp (no longer in existence) and would appreciate any help you can provide. Even clues would be appreciated. Thank you.
