Millie was born in Jones County, Georgia 1 AUG 1814. She was the daughter of William B. TRICE and Jane TAMPLIN Trice. Millie died 4 NOV 1837 in Upson County, Ga., at 23 years of age. Millie is buried in Trice Cemetery near The Rock. Her body was interred after 4 NOV 1837 in Trice Family Cemetery; the cemetery is located on land provided by William and Jane Trice, and Millie's grave is the oldest known grave in the cemetery; the unmarked site next to Millie was dedicated after 1972 in memory of her husband, Frances Nelson.
Frances NELSON, grandson of Thomas "Century" Nelson, was born in South Carolina in 1810 . Frances moved to Upson County in 1831. Memoirs of Georgia erroneously gives his birthplace as Talbot County and says he moved to Upson from there. He was a soldier in an Indian War according to the Memoirs of Georgia. He married Millie Ann TRICE in Upson County, Ga., 16 OCT 1831. Recorded 30 October by Thomas Bethel.
On 30 November 1833 Frances and Gibson Nelson sold a lot in the 10th District of Upson County to Thomas Thweatt of Jones County. In 1835 Frances drew lot 300, district 3, section 1 in the Cherokee Gold land lottery. At the time he was living in Upson County's Harrell's Militia District.
Francis and Milly had two children, Mary Jane NELSON, who was born 24 NOV 1832, and who married ?? Roberts, and Lt. Thomas Jefferson NELSON, who was born 22 JAN 1834. Francis died in 1839, just two years after Millie's death, leaving a seven year old daughter and five year old son. When his children were orphaned their maternal grandfather William B. Trice was declared their guardian and the administrator of Frances' estate. He sold a lot of land to Thomas Nelson Sr. It was in the middle of the Nelson family's Pleasant Hill holdings in Talbot County, Ga.
