Parchment : 1 sheet 29cm x 48cm with 2 wax seals and escutcheoned revenue stamp.

Summary of contents
PARTIES
John Dawes of Chichester, Sussex, Ironmonger
John Tribe of Chichester, Sussex, Scrivener
Francis Dear of Chichester, Sussex, Gentleman

SUBJECT
John Dawes and John Tribe 'Bargain and Sell' to Francis Dear a messuage on the west side of North Street, Chichester for 5 shillings. However, the wording later makes clear that this is the first part of a sale by Lease and Release. This document is actually a lease for a year at the rent of a peppercorn.

The property was previously in the possession of William Medford, deceased, victualler and includes outhouses and cellar.

The original parchment document relating to the above is displayed on http://www.familychest.co.uk PHOTO

Full transcription available upon request, or the original if you belong to the family. Use surname search on FamilyChest website
