Sally: According to the Abbeville, SC censuses of 1840 & 1850, there were 3 Tribble families living there. The E. Tribble of the 1840 census was Elijah Tribble. His family is as follows: 201001 021001 Elijah Tribble, b. 1797 Abbeville Co., SC m Bethena Shirley Children: Dicey Tribble, b 1827 Nipper Tribble, b. 1829, m Delilah ? Rachel Tribble, b 1831 Nancy Tribble, b. 1833 Reuben Tribble, b. 1836 James G. Tribble, b. 1841 Also residing in Abbeville Co. in 1840 was John Tribble. His family is as follows: 02001 10001 John Tribble, b. 13 May 1811, d. 24 Feb 1841 in Abbeville Co., SC. M. 2 Jan 1831 Esther Clinkscales Children: Lemuel Newton Tribble, b. 9 May 1832 William Milton Tribble, b. 29 Apr 1834 (son) Tribble, b. 1836, twin (daughter) Tribble, b. 1836, d. 1836, twin Margaret Alcanza Tribble, b. 24 Mar 1838 Mary Elminia Tribble, b 11 Oct 1840 John was a nephew of Elijah. In the 1850 census you can see John’s wife, Essie, and her 2 sons and 2 daughters as you state. John had died in early 1841.
