I am Sandon son of Kenneth, last male in my direct line of the Treweek family. Dad's brother, Brian had 2 daughters and traced the line back to the late 1600's. I know he's been in contact with people about this. I just looked at the 1841 census - there were 133 Treweek's living in Cornwall at the time and in total 164 in the UK. This is not counting the Treweeke, Treweeks or any other spellings of which there are many more. If I return to the UK I may research this. Its nice to know where we come from & so have a better idea of who we are. I am at present in s.e. asia, and not planning to have children. The coat of arms, the beehive with the bees is interesting - on www.houseofnames.com/xq/asp.fc/qx/treweek-family-crest.htm it says "anciently seated as Lords of the Manor of Penzance". I can find no record yet to authenticate this. The bees were a symbol of the Merovingian kings of France in C6th - C10th (forget exactly). This might explain the mafia tendancies mentioned by Justin? I hope to talk again, Sand. Notify Administrator about this message?
