John,
Thanks for your message.I regret to say that my research into the parentage of Thomas Trevillion (m. to Mary Ould in London in 1814) is so far fruitless. His address, 3 Old Street, was not included in the 1841 Census, so no info was available by that means.
The 1826 Robson's Postal Directory for London lists Thomas as a Broker at 3 Old Street; it also lists a George Trevillion, Birdcage Maker, at 64 Old Street, both in the parish of St. Luke's.["Broker" here refers to a furniture broker or dealer.]Could these be brothers?
The 1834 Pigot's Directory for London lists Thomas, again at 3 Old Street, as a Birdcage Maker; it also lists a Charles Trevillion at 37 Old Street as a Birdcage Maker.Interestingly, under the heading "Birds and Live Animals -- Dealers In" there is a Frederick Trevillion, dealer in dogs, rabbits, etc., at 191 Church St., Bethnal Green Road. The same 1834 Pigot's Directory also lists a William Trevillion, grocer, at 36 Princes Road, Lambeth.
It is likely the above George, Thomas, Charles, Frederick, and William are related, but how? They could be brothers, cousins, etc.
I know that my Thomas mentions a brother, Frederick, in his will of 1844.(Of course there may have been brothers who were no longer alive by 1844).I should tell you, however, that according to my research, this brother Frederick may be the Frederick who appears in the 1851 census at 2 Rookery Court, St. Stephen Coleman, London, as Frederick Trevillion, painter, married, age 61, born Middlesex, London; at the same address are also listed his wife Mathilde, age 62, born Quebec, Canada, and daughter Mary A., unmarried, age 17, born Middlesex, London.I believe this Frederick was married 3 times, and that Mary A. was the daughter by his first marriage (chr. at St. Leonard, Shoreditch).Frederick also had a son named Frederick, listed as a painter, aged 19, born in Shoreditch, and unmarried, in the 1851 census, living alone at 115 Memel St., St. Luke's, Finsbury.
If I learn anything more about the ancestors of these London Trevs, I will post it.
