Bob, The Trevena family came from Cornwall and this information may be of interest. It is the text of a message I have sent regarding a William Trevena: "The William Trevena you are referring to may have connections to my ancestor, William Trevena, miner of Redruth, Cornwall. From the information I have, but the date is a little later I think.
He married twice, the first time to Anne or Ann Goldsmith at Gwennap, Cornwall 1814. 4 children - Elizabeth (baptised) 13.9.1815, William 1.2.1819, Richard 29.7.1821, John 29.3.23. William from this marriage married Jane Teague at Holy Trinity Church, Adelaide (Australia) on 4.5.1839 and they had 11 children - Elizabeth Jane, Caroline, John Henry, Maria, William Thomas, Ellen, Emma (1), George Robert, Emma (2), un-named, Mary Ann.
The second marriage of William was to Mary Mills at Gwenap, Cornwall in 1825. 4 children - Thomas 12.3.1827, Mary (1) 13.9.1828, Samuel 23.11.1830 & Mary (2) 9.6.1835.
With the repetition of the name William, the william you refer to c1750 could be the father of William detailed here".
We have a detailed history of the Trevena family in Australia if that is of interest.
Extract from National Trust booklet on Tintagel 'The village of Trevena, in a flash of marketing genius worthy of twentieth century promotional methods, began to call itself Tintagel, and thus it is known today, but Tintagel is really the name of the parish in which Trevena was but hamlet among many'.
