Starting Sept. 5, 2014, Genealogy.com will be making a big change. GenForum message boards, Family Tree Maker homepages, and the most popular articles will be preserved in a read-only format, while several other features will no longer be available, including member subscriptions and the Shop.

Treise Family

My wife is Betty Lou Treise. Her father Friedrich Treise was born in Mueller, Saratov, Russia on 3 July 1905 and died 26 September 1983 in Valencia, California. His father was Johannes G. (Georg?) Treise born 21 December 1876 in Stephan, a short distance from Mueller. John died 9 February 1960 in Racine, Wisconsin. John's wife was Katherina Koch, born 31 January 1879, perhaps in Mueller, and died 19 March 1966 in Racine. At age 7, Freiderich, his sister Marie and their parents left Russia in May of 1913 and came to Ellis Island. They remained in New York State for three years and then removed to Tangier, Woodward Co., Oklahoma, where many of the Germans from Russia settled. The Treise family may have been called Dreise in the 1790 census of Stephan. We have had the Y-chromosome of Betty's brother tested and have the values for 43 DNA markers. These values are available to compare with those of other Treise family members. Contact me at http://www.dblank@comcast.net for further information, or post a message on this forum.
