In 1986 I was stationed in Sardinia off the coast of Italy. When I checked into the hotel the clerk asked if I was itialian. I said no, but he told me that my name "Trego" was a slang name meaning wheat farmer. My brother who is working on our family tree told me that Trejo was at one time part of the Spanish royal family.
