Hi, Diana I have some data in my files, which I think is correct but not 100% sure. I believe Samuel Treeby was baptised 5 October 1739 at Modbury, the son of Francis Treeby and Mary Godfrey who married on 25 April 1722 at Modbury. Samuel was one of 9 children as far as I can see. I believe Jane Toms may be 'Joan Tombs' baptised at Modbury on 4 June 1736, the daughter of John Tomes & Hannah Hilly. My one reason for this is that the Modbury Parish Registers list the following children Francis Treby, baptised 4 March 1763, son of Samuel & Jane Elizabeth Treby, bpt 17 May 1765, d. of Samuel & Jane Mary Treby, bpt 11 December 1767, d. of Samuel & Jane Samuel Treby, bpt 20 July 1770, s. of Samuel & Jane John Treby, bpt 19 June 1772, s. of Samuel & JOAN James Treby, bpt 28 April 1775, s. of Samuel & JOAN Joseph Treeby, bpt 7 September 1777, s. of Samuel & JOAN I cannot see a burial for Jane Treeby in Modbury PR that would lead one to think that Jane died & Samuel remarried someone called Joan. I think it is just the normal variation that you see with Jane/Joan/Joane/Johan all being used for the one name. You already have Joseph as the son of Samuel & Jane as well. My files also record Samuel senior as being buried at St. George's on 6 November 1816. Samuel junior was buried at St. George's on 11 July 1771 Other items I have: Francis Treeby, brother of Samuel senior, married Elizabeth Toms at 4 March 1752. Elizabeth would be the first cousin of Joan Tombs if my assertion is correct. Samuel & Jane's son Francis, married Jane Burring at Modbury on 20 September 1784. I have quite a lot on the Treeby family as I am related to the Toms/Tombs family. If you want to email me direct I will send you what I have Paul Notify Administrator about this message?
