The answer here depends a little on how much knowledge you have of arrays in a database. Simply FTM assumes that for each individual you will be adding some additional information eg date, place, source, note, etc.

It allocates apace (or dimensions an array in tech speak) for each person that it calls 'attaches' but reports this allocation as text records which have no relationship to actual text entries.

What I suggest you do is go to the new Tools Menu and compact the file

Compacting is usually used for deleting holes in a database when you remove photos but I suspect it will also reduce/remove text entry space allocation.

Give it a try and report back

As to why it is different in FTM 2005 compared with earlier versions probably has something to do with the way the code has changed in FTM 2005?
