I think Brackett is the child of Hammond Treadwell & Phebe Chick, and grew up in the household of Phebe's second husband, John Crockett in Shapleigh, York Co., Maine, (1820s through maybe the 1840s). Some of the Treadwells & Crocketts married in Mass. in the 1840s. In the 1880 census Brackett's widow, children, and his brother James Monroe Treadwell's family are living in Mariaville, Hancock Co., ME. James M. is also in the 1880 census in Bangor, ME, where he worked for 40 years according to his 1891 obituary.

I would love to hear from descendants of these Treadwells. I am trying to figure out which Treadwell brother spent a year or so around Macon, Bibb Co., Georgia, and then returned to Maine about 1851.
