Follow up to my own post. I no longer believe that David of Somers is the son of Gilbert. Both Davids parallel each in the ceusus. Because all of the Travis' who were in Carmel in the 1790, 1800, 1810 and possibly even the 1820 census were Gilbert and his sons, I have to believe that a similar situation existed in Somers. Sons generally looked for something close by the family. I find so little on those who were in Somers is blows me away. 1790 in Stephen we find Bartholmew with 10 in his household yet there is not one file that features his family. There is an Elisha with 3 males over 16. There is Gilbert and I know that is the Gilbert who will go to Carmel by 1810. There is a Jonathan who also has 2 males over 16 and lastly there is a Robert and appears to be a fairly young family. I have not been able to identify any of them. 1800 Bartholomew is still there and is 45+. David appears here and is David b. 1774 m. Deborah Smith whom my first thread is about. Nest is Elisha again, still under 44. Jonathan also under 44 but he has a female 45+ and lastely Willet spelled Willer) who is between 16-25 so a very young family as well as a Joshua, same age. I feel most of these new young families came from those with the multiple males over 16 but cannot find a fmaily with these names that fit. If anyone has any idea who these men connect to I sure would appreciate your help.
