Thanks, John.

I'll pass on by email some of the details that we discussed in our telephone conversation.

I'm happy to share any information that I have accumulated over the years, with the caveat that there are still large gaps in places. I certainly intend to consult the registers in Dublin somehow, although I can't guarantee what we'll find in them.

Looking again at my 1881 census details, I can see Joseph Henry Hughes listed among Mary Anne's [sic] children, living at 27, Potter Street, Newport. I haven't traced the Hughes family any further than that, but would be glad of any additonal information, for the sake of completing a bit more of the picture.

As for my place in the scheme of things:

Jasper Travers - John Richard Travers - Jasper Robert Travers - Edward (Red Ted) Travers - Edward John Travers (Mayor of Newport) - Graham Travers. I find it particularly gratifying that the family rose from gaolbird to mayor ! 8o)
