Sir Robert Travers married Harriet Letitia Belford, at Cork on 4th July 1809. Harriet was born in Ireland around 1790, the daughter of Major William Belford who was also born in Ireland in about 1760. Robert and Harriet’s children were Harriet Matilda (1813-1881), Isabella Eliza (1814-1839), Julia Anna (1815-1891 m Nicolas Cummins 1st November 1838), Robert William (1819-1849), Thomas Maitland (1819-1842), James Colthurst (1820-1884 m Mary Macintyre 19th November 1849), Eaton Joseph (1823-1857 m Elizabeth Aylmer 17th February 1857), Ernest Augustus Belford (1824-1879 m Agnes Hunter 10th February 1851), John Nicholas (1825-1894 m Elizabeth Duffus Hay (12th September 1849), Horace Newman (1826-1867), Henry Fane (1828-1913 m 1stly Jane Lucy Davis 20th September 1860 2ndly Cecelia Price 26th May 1870), Elizabeth Mary Colthurst (1829-1875 m James Leslie 25th October 1848) and Joseph Oates (1835-1884 m Eleanor Durand 27th April 1872).
Horace Newman Travers, the 7th son, was an Assistant Commissary General in the Army and was born at Gortenagrenane House, Co Cork on 9th November 1826 and he married, on 2nd June 1853, Rosamund St Leger Shirley Travers (Hill).
Rosamund was born in 1830 at Molesey, Surrey and married Lieutenant Jonas Hamilton Travers, of Timoleague Co Cork, on 26th January 1850 at Ambala in India when her father, Sir Dudley St Leger Hill, was serving there. Jonas disappeared at sea on 18th May 1850.
Horace died at Kingston, Jamaica on 25th June 1867 and had a military internment at St Finbarres, Cork, where a plaque on the wall of the church records his death.
Dudley Colthurst Travers, the eldest son of Horace and Rosamund Travers, was born at Guildford Western Australia on 7th September 1855. There is no known record of his return to Australia following the departure of his family in 1861. He married Emma Bradford in Brisbane on 29th January 1885.
