Meshack TRAVERS, b.ca.1809, wife Eliz. HURLEY
Hello,
I'm looking for the parents of Meshack TRAVERS who was b. abt. 1809 (1860 census of Dorchester Co., MD) and died before 1870. He was married to Elizabeth HURLEY 30 MAR 1830; they had at least these children: Hugh, Daniel, James W., Mary, Claricy, Priscilla, William, Benjamin and possibly Nicholas.I have a feeling that a brother of Meshack was William K. TRAVERS, b. ca. 1800—he named a son Meshack , b. ca. 1845.
There was at least one other older Meshack TRAVERS.The book "Early MD Families" mentions Shadrach, Meshach and Abednego TRAVERS, three "brothers from Ireland to US. One settled in Accomack Co., Va, another in Cecil Co., MD and the third in Wash., DC.Desc. of one of the brothers, William Hick Travers, res. Dorchester Co., MD, s/o John, a sea captain & resident of the same county...."
Also, the book mentions: "Henry Travers, from England & settled in Dorchester Co., teacher." and then, "William Travers, & wife Catherine, from England before 1668 and settled in Dorchester Co., MD, where descendants were farmers for several generations.."
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.
