Margaret, there was a James S. Traughber in Logan County, Kentucky whose wife was named Caroline according to a deed in 1859.He is highly likely to be the same James Traughber who married a Caroline Drane in 1854 in neighboring Robertson County, Tennessee. He is buried in the Traughber-Cook cemetery with a gravestone that reads "5 June 1829 - 5 July 1861".
Assuming this is the same guy you are looking for, he was the son of William Traughber Jr., grandson of William Traughber Sr., etc.He is age 21 in the 1850 household of William Traughber, age 80, in Logan County. After the death of William Traughber, the heirs sold their interests in his land on the Red River in Logan County to James S. Traughber. There are several of these Logan County deeds involving James S. Traughber and wife Caroline which were made "in order to have an equal division of the estate" and which identify him as the son of William Traughber (6 September 1770 – 12 October 1854) who is buried in the same cemetery.

Sometimes you just get lucky.
