Fred C. Trappe, of Des Plaines, beloved husband of Laverne R., nee Wurster; loving father of Renee (Richard Radek) Trappe; dear brother of Cornelia (late Oiva) Kahila; brother-in-law of Gerry (late Howard C. Wurster), Rita (Bob) Schwarz and Lavonne (late Roland) Burkhart; fond uncle of Wayne (Linda) Kahila, Roger (Jan) Kahila, Howard Allen Wurster Sr., Joyce Ratliff, Susan (Bruce) Modica, and Geri (Bob) Heim; 18 great-grandnieces and nephews; 15 great-great-grandnieces and nephews; and his beloved Michigan family. Preceded in death by his first wife, Carole, nee Burkhart. Board member of the 20th Century Railroad Club; Des Plaines Crime Stoppers; and the Des Plaine Lunkerbusters Fishing Club. 30 year employee of the Chicago Tribune and 66 year member of the International Association of Machinists. Visitation Tuesday, 3 to 9 p.m., at the Oehler Funeral Home Des Plaines Chapel, 2099 Miner St. (Rte. 14/Northwest Hwy. At Rand Rd.), where service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. Interment Ridgewood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the IL Railway Museum, Union, IL, or Christ Church, United Church of Christ, 1492 Henry Ave., Des Plaines 60016.
