Hi Fred
Carolines brother Samuel settled in New Zealand in 1859 and I am one of his forebearers, he would be my gggrandfather.
Caroline Seddon was part of 'The Family of Peter Seddon of Prestolee" - if you google that phrase it will come up with a family treet going back to the 1400's. Our family breaks off this branch with Peter Seddon b. 1689-1731 - a dissenting minister - his brother being William 1686-1767 who inherited the trusteeship of Ringley chapel.

Your Caroline Seddon was b.1827, unfortunately I don't have dates for her marriage or death. I only have 3 children for her:- William S. Trapp b.1849 Thurleigh,Bedford, Caroline E. Trapp b.1859 Thurleigh Bedford and Mary A Trapp b. 1864 Knighton Leicester. The births do seem to be very spread out so I'm not sure if I am correct or not.

Caroline's parents were William Seddon d.1845 and Elizabeth Bolton. They lived at Stoneygate, Knighton, Leicester. I have been told William owned some cotton mills, it states on his sons Cambridge alumni that he was a lace-manufacturer. Caroline's brothers and sisters were:-

1. William 1824-1879 - Peterhouse Cambridge, Rector of Anstey, m. Mary Ann Charlesworth.
2. Richard 1825-1884 - St Johns Cambridge, Curate of Pembridge, Rector of Evesbatch etc. m. Katherine Priscilla Rowley.
3. Samuel Thomas 1830-1908 (my gggrandfather) m. Mary Anlezark (dau. of Robert Anlezark - Christs College - Rev.) came to NZ 1859 and farmed land between Tauranga and Hamilton.
4. Elizabeth Bolton Seddon 1826-? married 1st 1843 John Holman Tosswill - 1 child. Secondly m. 1850 Robert Harkness - Rector of St Giles Wimborne, Dorset. One of their offspring was Margaret Harkness - socialist, writer under the name of John Law and part of the Fabian society along with her 2nd cousin Beatrice Potter Webb (check the net)
5. Mary Bolton Seddon 1821-1887 m. Richard Toller - lawyer
6. Caroline 1827-? Your descendant.

I hope I have'nt overwhelmed you with so much info. and I hope I have written clearly enough to understand. I have been looking into the family tree on and off for about a year and although have some info. distance makes it difficult to get a lot.

As a family we do seem to be spread far and wide. Brazil must be fascinating and I'm glad I caught you - 90 - is a great age.
