Dear Tom, According to John of Fordun writing 20 years after the Bishops death the bishop belonged to the Traills of Blebo which is in Fife. Two official recordsone English one Scots identify Sir Alexander Traill of Blebo as his nephew and the English report identifies Sir Thomas Traill the champion of the joust at Berwick in 1398 as also being his nephew. Canon Alexander Traill, Canon Thomas Traill, Pastor Laurence Traill all held positions in Fife and except for Canon Thomas who is recorded in aletter of appointment as having been born in 1362 we dont know their exact relationship to the bishop or birthdates but since they in turn each served in each others positions it is reasonable to believe they were closely related. Alexander Douglas was a member of the regency Council which the bishop also held a position on along with the Queen her son the heir to the throne and the Kings brother. I haven't heard of this gentlemen before could you give me all the detail you can We have records from 1066 to 1260 of the identities of the Traill forbears but am looking for more detail between 1260 and 1320 Walter Traills grt grandfather also Walter Traill had a sister who married I do not know who toElsie Ritchie
