Dear George,
If Gail is correct and you are St. Andrews Trails, we might me able to prove the family connections within the city between 1600 and 1650 by a visit to the Guild Hall of the Shoemakers Guild and getting a list of their members by the name of Traill for those years. They were rather prominent in it at times. A visit to St. Andrews Cathedral which is still in ruins, but where Bishop Walter Trail was buried in 1401 would be a nice touch. He had the castle there built which is also in ruins but there is a bottle nosed dungeon and a prowl round it would be of interest. I would like a map of the place the castle I mean, but there may not be one.The library there have been most helpful to me with lists of people and the University is one of the oldest in Scotland. Our first traill to graduate from there is a David Traill in 1492. There hope that makes for a few nice outings Elsie
