Trill name and Devon

Just to add a little clue here.

I was looking at Musbury, Devon, England on a hybrid Satellite map--where John Trall and Elizabeth Shepherd were married in 1635. They are the right age to be parents of Peter who married Margaret Gill 13 Dec 1664 in Bridford, Devon. On the map of the village of Musbury was a road off to the north east which became Trill Lane. Nowadays there are large fields along it then a farmstead. Maybe that is the origin of the Trill Lane name, some remnant of the Musbury Tralls? Colyton is west and a bit south of Musbury, the next town over. So the few people there that show in the records would possibly be related to the Thomas Trill who was in Connecticut in the 1600s.

Devon is next to Dorset. Perhaps the John of Colyton and Elizabeth Shepherd were parents of the John Trale (born about 1636) who came to VA by 1662 and MD later. Perhaps sometime John Treal and John Pottinger met? And the Maryland Gills were a possible contact with Margaret Gill and Peter Trale, a possible brother or cousin of John.

Thomas Trill in CT--well those Trills could have been from Devon too.
Gail
