Dear Gail and I missed writing that john Pottinger was married to a Mary Beall who the pottinger forum consider was a sister or a close relative of Ninian Bealls, but certainly not his daughter as she would have been too old for that position. the orkney pottingers stayed in close contact with the English family but had settled in orkney about 1495, so i dont think this John was from the Orkney line either Elsie
