Dear All The new Scotlands Docuements death records list is not yet complete but those that are there are very helpful. In particular the burial of a schoolboy named David Traill who was buried on New years Day 1709. I checked there is no other schoolboy named David present in Orkney over the period between 1695 and 1710 except William Traill and Barbara Balfour's son. Because of all the recent research showing that David Traill of Maryland was born earlier I would not post this but I understand a recent publication in America repeated the earlier conclusion that David of Maryland was Barbara Balfours son which we now know to be impossible. However for all those who like things docuemented I thought I would post what happened to Barbara Balfours son . regards Elsie Ritchie
