Patrick Trail 1739 Virginia
Posted by: George Trail (ID *****8017) Date: February 06, 2009 at 18:16:20
  of 1866

There is a court record dated 1739 at Prince William County,Virginia. In the record Patrick Trail was sued by Richard Blackburn. Patrick Trail had a wife named Mary at this time and she was the daughter of Nathaniel Russell Sr. who was deceased by this date of 1739. Prince William County was carved from Stafford County in 1731. Joseph West left this area in 1691 and moved to Prince Georges County,Maryland and patented a tract upon arrival he named "Blackburn". It is interesting that there was a Patrick Traill from Orkney who was a merchant skipper and there is record of him sailing to Virginia as early as 1707. This would be about the time Patrick Trail of Prince William County,Virginia was born. David Trail Sr. of P.G. County ,Maryland was not far from Prince William County,Va. and he was having children about 1710 as well.
