Cross family of Maryland. 1600's and on
Posted by: George Trail (ID *****8017) Date: January 15, 2009 at 20:46:16
  of 1867

I noticed in the Prince Georges County Court records dated 1700-1705 That a James Cross and a Joseph Cross were in a case involving Christopher Thompson( a close neighbor of David Trail Sr. at New Scotland) and John Brown Sr.(father of John Brown Jr. who would eventually purchase "David's Industry" from Edwrd Nicholls in1763.) They were close kin to Robert Cross who was living at Soldiers Delight Hundred of Baltimore County in 1763 along with George Tryal/Trail. They were all from the line of William Crosse of Middlesex,England who was patenting land in Talbot County as early as 1670. The William Cross who married Mary Fraill/Traille at Mass. in 1706 named a son Joseph . This William Cross was the son of a George Crosse. The William Cross of Maryland whose descendants settled mainly at Baltimore County also had a father named George back in England. In addition I also found in the Baltimore Census of 1804 a John Frail residing there. Joshua Triall was a cook shop owner in 1796 at the city of Baltimore.
