Dear Gail, Just prior to Christmas I gave myself the treat of several more original docuements from the Scots parish records. This improved the information on David Traill and Janet Couper I was able to find that what I had thought was Ladernie Kemback had a comma between the words and was in fact Radernie, just 3 miles outside St Andrews and just south of Blebo. This accounted for many of this family being baptised in St Andrews. This in addition gave me a family group for David as all the children from the group had as witnesses at their baptisms their uncles and aunts. This made it look very obvious that they were the children of William the last Traill of Ladeddie. This property is just west of Radernie, and was returned to the overlordship of the Kynimont family who kept it for themselves for a period. William's brother Peter died fighting in the Netherlands and this family are indeed the major forbears for the Trail family that still live in the rural areas in Fife. I did not find however further descendents of David and Janet in the area, but did find nephews and nieces in plenty
Here is the information on that group You may see links I have not seen but there is to start with another Forbes link in the second generation. James was a brother of Alexander Traill of Blebo and of Col. Andrew Traill and was a first cousin of the Janet Traill (daughter of Alexander Traill MP)you mentioned
