Dear Joe,
James returned with rest of his family to Scotland. James Traill graduated fromEdinburgh University 26 June 1699 and was ordained 22 Feb 1709. He qualified as a minister of the Presbyterian Church in 1709 and was appointed to the parish at Montrose. He married the daughter of a Provost of Aberdeen named Christian Allardyce in 1714. They had five children. James died in 1723 and his wife brought up their children in Aberdeenshire where her family was living. There have been several outstanding academic members of the Traill family amongst his descendents. So he doesn't really disappear off the records in spite of his early death regards Elsie Ritchie
