George Trail Brooklyn,NY 1757
George Traile was among the founding members of the St. Andrew's Society of New York in 1757 and apparently operated an extensive manufacturing business there. I found another record that may be a clue to his line. The following is from a New York newspaper. 8/18/1763 "Robert Kennedy,a Scotch gentleman, drowned Aug. 17th when boat of Watson's Ferry, going to Staten Island, overset." From same newspaper dated 8/25/1763 "Baptist,French negro slave, aged 40, runaway from estate of late Robert Kennedy, reward for his capture offered by George Trails." It seems the Kennedy's and Traills were allied at Orkney so that is a possibility. The Kennedy family was also represented amongst the earliest land patents of Frederick County,Maryland in what became Montgomery County.
