Dear George There is100 years between the two events and Britain had lost 2 thirds of its population through epedemics and war of which there had been three civl wars and four major changes of government. the up heavals were major. You tell me you can find no written docuements by David or his likely relatives in Delaware. Yet we do have written docuements from James Traill of Tullochin and his brother and his sons and grandsons. We also have a heap of written docuements from the Orkneys,in which they mention Traills comings and goings and where they are, but not from the traills in either Angus or Aberdeen where the people were devastated in those wars. I have only been able to conclude that the first group were among the 10% who could read and write and that David and his family were among the 90% who could not. Although I am sure they were cousins I am sure the relationship is a reasonably distant one and also most likely to be sourced from the eastern coast of scotland regards Elsie
