I am a Trahan and specialize in Acadian genealogy, especially the Trahans. Coincidentally, by wife is from Hardin and Jefferson Counties in southeast Texas and is related to the STRAHAN (not Acadien) and Cotton families. . I took a peak at her files and found some information that may interest you. Her records idicate there were two George Washington Strahans with links to this area. One was born November 2, 1848, presumably in Mississippi. He married Laura Dearman. This George was the son of Lemuel Strahan of MS and Amelia Wheat. My wife Shirley has several generations furhter back if you are interested. The other George Washington Strahan was born May 15, 1822, presumably in MS. He married Martha Miller, also of MS. They had a number of children, including a Martha A. Strahan, born about 1850 (place not listed in our records). This Martha A Strahan had a number of siblings, including Sarah, Angenice, James Andrew, Francis N., William A., Leon, and John. Might this be the family you are looking for? If so, Shirley can give you information on several additional generations of the Srahan line. To complicate matters more, there is a Martha Ann Strahan, born in 1853, living in this same area. She was the daughter of Samuel A. Strahan and Lou Sarah Jordan of Alabama. If any of this looks familiar, send a e-mail to my wife Shirley at: dtrahan@swbell.net Sincerely, Don and Shirley Trahan Beaumont, TX Notify Administrator about this message?
