Hi, I am a grandson of Carl Tozier, son of Pembroke & Lizzie Moore. Pembroke was son of Charles and Roselinda (Waning) Tozier who lived in Knox, Maine. Charles had a prosperous farm in 1860 in Knox, but disappeared, then shows up dying in a lumbering accident in St. Stephen, New Brunswick, but was buried back in Knox Station. My grandmother said Pembroke and his sisters would never talk about their grandfather at all - it appears he must have gone to Canada to avoid the conscription act (draft) during the Civil War and that left a stigma over the family, so they basically disowned him. I have a photo of him. I have never heard my my grandfather or grandmother mention anything about being part Indian. Steve
