Scott,
I too have been working on my Townsend Family lineage. I have a Grover Townsend, born circa 1760- 1769, whose son, James Townsend mentioned that he was born in Virginia. My grandmother was Sadie George Townsend, and is said to have been named in honor of George Alfred Townsend (GATH), the author. If you find any connection with these Townsends, I would be very interested.
