Madisonville Democrat, (Monroe Co. TN) Wednesday, July 2, 1969, Page 8:
“Madisonville---Mrs. D.H. Tipton, mother of Mrs. W.C. Anderson, who has lived in the Anderson home for some time, passed away on Friday night. Mrs. Tipton was the former Mamie Townsend, member of a prominent pioneer family of Townsend [TN]. Mrs. Anderson is an only child. Other survivors are a brother, Harry Townsend of Altoona, Pa., a grandson, Townsend Anderson; great-grandchildren, Chucky and Joe, and nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in Townsend [Blount Co. TN] on Monday with burial in Grandview Cemetery.”
