This was kind of interesting...I had not worked on my Towns family in years and just decided today to search for records to back up info I had.
I came here to look and see what was on the Towns Forum and the very 1st one is yours that looks similiar to what I have.

James Daniel Towns b abt 1828 (I show his father as Daniel b. abt 1783 but could have been his middle name)
Rebecca Atwin Marsh b. abt 1824 SC
married 1875 Georgia
Joseph Thomas Bryan
Without listing everything they end up in Bienville Lousiana
One son William T Bryan marries Olivia "Ollie" Burkhalter
among their children is my Grandmother
Lessie Pearl Bryan who marries Claude C Reed SR who in turn have my father Claude C Reed Jr
this much I am positive on
Anyway if mine James D Towns turns out to be the same as yours I really appreciate finding this interesting history...
